Primary election Tuesday, June 4
The primary election will be held Tuesday, June 4 to determine which candidates will qualify for the general election for a given party.
Offices on the 2024 Primary Election ballot include US State Representative District 3, State Representative District 17, County Board of Supervisors (2 Seats), County Auditor, and County Sheriff.
In Iowa, participating voters must declare their party preference, Republican, Democrat, or Libertarian, before receiving a ballot. Independent voters or No Party voters must declare a party preference to vote in the primary election.
Poll are open from from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and polling places for each precinct include:
Athens, including cities of Beaconsfield and Kellerton, at Kellerton City Hall · 108 S. Decatur St. · Kellerton, IA 50133.
Clinton, including Benton, Maloy, and Redding, at Redding Frontier Hall · 402 Central St. · Redding, IA 50860.
Mt. Ayr precinct 1, which includes city of Mt. Ayr, votes at the American Legion Building · 1302 S. Cleveland St. · Mt. Ayr, IA 50854.
Mt. Ayr precint 2, votes at First Christian Church · 201 W. Monroe St. · Mt. Ayr, IA 50854
Tingley residents have a temporary change, and will vote at the Ellston Community Building · 209 W. Main Street · Ellston, IA 50074.
Union, including the city of Ellston and Sun Valley Lake residents, will also vote at the Ellston Community Building · 209 W. Main St. · Ellston, IA 50074.
Washington, including the city of Diagonal, will vote at Diagonal Community Building · 103 Broadway St. · Diagonal, IA 50845.

County auditors must finalize polling places by 20 days before the election, but polling place locations could change due to an emergency.
All voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before they may receive and cast a ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered or voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. Any voter who cannot show ID may have their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID. Iowa law allows eligible persons to register and vote at the polls on Election Day. An Election Day registrant must provide acceptable proof of identity and current residence in the precinct. Voters choosing this option should plan to take a few extra minutes for the transaction.
Any voter who requires assistance to vote by reason of blindness, disability, or inability to read or write may be given assistance by a person of the voter’s choice, other than the voter’s employer or agent of that employer or officer or agent of the voter’s union.
Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle.
