Ayr Days will return again this year, bringing the community together on Saturday, August 24.
The Highlander Hustle, sponsored by Ringgold County Hospital will kick off a full day of activities on the square in Mount Ayr.
Registration for the 5k walk/run, kids fun run will start at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K run will start at 8:00 a.m.
A parade around the square is planned to start at 10:00 a.m. Anyone interested in entering the parade can sign up between 9:15-9:45 on the corner of Fillmore and Jefferson Street.
Immediately following the parade, cars, pickups, trucks, motorcycles and tractors participating in the show and shine will park on the South side of the square between 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Dance performances by Ryann’s Dance Academy will also follow the parade, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on the basketball court.
Join Travis Scott with Ringgold County Conservation for a presentation about reptiles and amphibians from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Shelter House on the square. Animals will also be present for viewing from 12 -2 p.m.
Greater Regional Community Health Clinic will be hosting Yard Games from 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the grass area on the NE Corner of the Courtyard. Stop by the Dunk Tank and support the Raider Football team fundraiser.
Bring your quilt to the Ayr Days Quilt Show at the First Christian Church. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to see the quilts. Contact Phyllis Sickels at 641-464-3890 for more information.
Face painting will be available again this year from 11:00 a.m.-4 p.m. on the East side of the courthouse.
Inflatables and spin art will entertain kids of ALL ages between 11:00 a.m. -5 p.m.
Derek Jones and his petting zoo will be set up from 12-4 p.m. again this year.
A bags tournament will be held starting at 4:00 p.m. on the North side of the square (in front of Still Smokin & Country Blossoms). Teams should be prepared to pay $20 to sign up, with a 100% payout.

The Mount Ayr Embers will be serving a pulled pork meal starting at 4:30 p.m. on the West side of the square. This will be a free will donation meal, with all proceeds will go to purchase safety equipment for the fire department. The Mount Ayr Volunteer Fire Department will have water game fun for the kids from 5:00-6 p.m. Sign up at 4:30 p.m. to participate.
Evening entertainment will include Keith West’s Magic and Illusion Show and local talent Garrett and the Relics playing live music from 7-10 p.m. You can find more information on the Ayr Days Facebook Event Page.
