Homecoming activities are underway this week, with a full night of activities planned for Thursday, September 26.
The evening starts with a coronation night cookout hosted by the music boosters from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the football field. A choice of hamburger, pork loin or hot dog along with chips, dessert and water is being offered for $7 with proceeds supporting band and music students.
The football team will be auctioning off their jerseys beginning around 7 p.m. The coronation of the homecoming queen and king will occur after the jersey auction, along with competitive class skits and a special performance by teachers and senior class parents.
King candidates include Jaize Frost, Tyler Martin, Brock Shaha, Adan Trujillo, and Kash Wasteny.
Those contending for homecoming queen include Aubree Clark, Alana Doolittle, Anna Greenland, Olivia Huntington and Jaxy Knight.
Sophia O’Neil was named princess this year, and will be escorted by prince Maverick Bishop.
The homecoming parade will be held at 1:30 on Friday, September 27 with lineup starting at 1 p.m. on the west side of the high school. Businesses and other community entities are encouraged to join the “A Blast in the Raider Past” parade.

The parade will lead up to a community pep rally on the football field at 2:15 p.m.
Before the game begins, ribeye sandwiches will be grilled down by Raider stadium.
The Mount Ayr Raider football team will kickoff their home game against the North Mahaska Warhawks at 7 p.m. Recognitions will occur during half time.
ROA Raider Fall Festival
Saturday, September 28, Ringgold Outdoor Alliance is hosting a Raider Fall Festival on the square in Mount Ayr. Registration for a 5-K run/walk in memory of Trent Stewart will begin at 3 p.m. The event will officially start at 4 p.m.
A cup cake contest will also be held, with registration requested at 3:30 p.m., judging taking place at 4 p.m. and winners announced at 5 p.m.
The Mount Ayr Embers are serving a free-will-donation meal beginning at 4:30 p.m.
A bags tournament for both adults and children is also planned for the evening. Registration begins at 6 p.m. and tournament play will start at 6:30 p.m.
Bingo will be called from 6:30-8 p.m. at the courthouse shelter house.
The Princess Theater will be showing “Harold and the Purple Crayon” free of charge at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admission is being sponsored by the Ringgold Outdoor Alliance and Glendenning Motor Co.
Taylor Carriage Rides will be offered throughout the evening, while Garrett and the Relics play live music from 7-10 p.m.
MACS Hall of Fame Banquet
A banquet is also being held on Saturday, September 28 to welcome four new members into the Mount Ayr Community Schools Hall of Fame.
Awards will be presented to Curt Braby, Tami Trullinger Fahnlander, Barry Monaghan and Faye Stull at the annual Hall of Fame banquet.
Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. in the high school commons with a catered banquet dinner served at 6 p.m.
The induction ceremony will get underway following dinner.
MACHS English/drama instructor Shaun Kniep will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Each inductee or their family members will speak during the evening.
