The Mount Ayr Raiders and Raiderette cross-country teams ran the first of two meets last week at the Clarke Invitational. Mount Ayr joined many other teams at the meet as the regular season rolled along.
On the girl’s side, Mount Ayr had a pair of top-30 finishers. Ryley Greenwell placed 28th in 25:32 and Ashlyn Byer placed 29th in 25:51.

Van Meter won the girl’s race with 26 team points while Martensdale-St. Mary’s was the runner-up team with 58 points. Laura Streck and Emma McCoy from Van Meter were first and second-place finishers in 19:29 and 20:22.
On the boy’s side, Mount Ayr saw Chariton win the meet going away. The Chargers scored a team-low 35 points. Van Meter was second with 76 points and Baxter was third with 92 points. Matt Richardson won the boy’s race in a time of 17:17 followed by Lucas Anderson in second with 17:31. Braylon Greenwell was the top Mount Ayr finisher with a 32nd place finish in 21:03. Other Mount Ayr finishers were Michael Adkisson in 54th place and Rolland Adkisson in 85th place.
