Brian Dean Henry

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved, Brian Dean Henry, of Broomfield, Colorado. Brian left us suddenly on September 21, 2024, at the age of 61. His passion for metal detecting brought him to Pickle Gulch in Black Hawk, Colorado, where he peacefully passed away among the trees, from a known heart condition. He was a man of immense humor, wisdom, passion and love for his family.

Brian was born on September 24, 1962, to John and Shirley Henry. He was welcomed home by five sisters, Deb, Pam, Sheryl, Suzanne, and Kimberly and two brothers, Kevin and Bruce. Michelle would arrive 5 years later.
Brian graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in 1981 and went to Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny to study construction. In 1982 Brian moved to Colorado and worked in construction. It was in Colorado where he met the love of his life, Mary. They were joined in marriage on July 2nd, 1988, and to this marriage came three beautiful children, Jenna, Sara, and Jake.

Brian loved to camp and be with his family especially on the 4th of July shooting off fireworks. He also enjoyed woodworking, music, football, and making Sunday morning breakfast.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary, his children, Jenna, Sara and Jake. His siblings, Pam (Mark) Wahl, Sheryl (Fred) Gramm, Suzanne Calhoun, Kevin (Rose) Henry, Kim (Jay) Moore, Bruce Henry and Michelle (Steve) Rhine, and many nieces and nephews.

Joining him in eternal life are his parents, grandparents, beloved sister, Deb Shelly nephews Sawyer Rhine, and Caleb Moore, numerous aunts and uncles, and his constant companion, Moose.

A celebration of life was held in Brian’s honor at the Boettcher Mansion at Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado on Sunday October 6, 2024, at 3 p.m. In lieu of traditional mourning, we request the joy of your company and stories of Brian. We welcome anyone to personally share a memory or story of Brian at his celebration or it can be shared on your behalf.

Brian’s final wish was rather unconventional. He always wanted to become part of outer space when he died. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in honor of Brian for his final wish.
The family will provide mission updates to the contributors.
