The fifth-ranked team in Class 1A Mount Ayr Raiderette girl’s basketball team opened the new hoops season with a dominant 86-39 victory at home over Lamoni last week.
The Raiderette’s point total was the most scored in a game since an 84-19 win over Lenox on February 7, 2017.
“It was nice to get to the games. We are at the point of the season where we need to see another team and how they are going to react to us. This one was a good one to get under out belt, we have a busy week coming up and have more to work on,” said Mount Ayr head coach Thad Streit.
Mount Ayr led 17-0 before settling for a lead of 28-5 after the first quarter. The Raiderettes followed that up with a 23-point second quarter to take a 51-19 lead at halftime. Mount Ayr would continue to out-score the Demons in the second half in both quarters.
Mount Ayr would outscore Lamoni 35 to 20 in the second half to set the final at 86-39.

The Raiderettes put up 60 shots in the game and shot 65-percent from the floor. Seniors Raylor Henson and Lauren Olson led Lamoni in scoring with 20 and 11 points.
