The Mount Ayr girl’s wrestling team made the trip to New Sharon for the North Mahaska wrestling tournament as the Raider boys also were there.
The Raiderettes were one of ten scoring teams at the girl’s tournament. Mount Ayr placed sixth with a team score of 60 points. Cardinal of Eldon, Iowa, won the tournament with a team score of 130 points. LeMars was second with 114.5 points while North Tama placed third with 98 points.
Alana Doolitttle placed second at the 235-pound class. The Raiderettes had three third place finishes. They were Brylee Schwebach at 170, Adalynn Dredge at 140, and Sayuri Meadors at 130. Addison Doolittle placed fifth at 125 and Tarynn Dredge placed sixth at 135.
The Raiderettes will be back in action on January 14 when they wrestle in a dual meet with SW Valley, Clarke, Red Oak, SWAT, and Wayne. The next tournament that Mount Ayr is in will be January 23 at the Centerville girl’s wrestling scramble followed by the Rich Gray Invite on January 25 at Interstate-35.
