The Mount Ayr girl’s wrestling team made the short trip to Central Decatur High School for a Class 1A state qualifying meet.
The meet had state bids on the line for the top two finishers at each weight class this week in Coralville at Xtream Arena.
At the meet, the Mount Ayr Raiderette wrestling team took six wrestlers. None of the six placed or will be moving on to the state tournament as their seasons come to an end.
Wrestling at the meet for Mount Ayr were Addison Doolittle at 125, Sayuri Meadors at 130, Tarynn Dredge at 135, Adalynn Dredge at 140, Brylee Schwebach at 170, and Alana Doolitlte at 235.
Addison Doolittle wrestled in three contested matches and went 1-2 in those matches. She fell in the quarterfinals but won her first consolation match, a 3-1 decision win over Paige Montgomery from SE Warren/Melcher-Dallas. Doolittle then lost her next match. Doolittle finishes the season with a record of 11-21.
Tarynn Dredge wrestled in four contested matches and won two of them. Dredge pinned Alleah Cunningham from East Union in 1:33 in the second round but lost in the quarterfinals. Dredge also won a match in the consolation round pinning Gabby Smith from Albia in 2:40 to reach the consolation semifinals where she lost. Dredge finishes the year with a record of 19-19.
Schwebach won one match at 170, pinning Cooper Davis from Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the quarterfinals. Schwebach lost in the semifinals and the consolation round. She finished the season 23-10.
Sayuri Meadors saw her season end with a record of 11-18. Meadors was in two contested matches and fell in both. Adalynn Dredge saw her season end with a record of 18-14. Dredge was in two matches, falling in the quarterfinals and in the consolation round. Alana Doolittle saw her season end with an 8-7 record. Doolittle wrestled in two contested matches and fell in both by pin.
