Mount Ayr’s Brock Shaha will end his season at Wells Fargo Arena this week at the 2025 traditional state tournament.
This comes after Shaha won the 120-pound weight class at the Class 1A District meet at Riverside High School in Oakland. Shaha improved to 49-2 with two wins at the weight class to advance to state.
Shaha has a bye in the first round at the state meet and willl wait to face the winner of CJ Rodriguez from Emmetsburg and Ty Strode from Nodaway Valley.
Strode and Shaha faced in the title match at 120 at the district meet. Shaha is seeded third in the weight class going into state.
The Class 1A portion of the state tournament begins at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19. First-round consolations also will be held during Session 2. The 1A quarterfinals and more consolation matches are in Session 5 on Thursday, February 20.
The 1A semifinals in Session 8 Friday and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. are consolation semifinals and finals for all classes with the grand march and finals at 5:15.

Shaha had a bye in the quarterfinals at 120. In the semifinals, Shaha pinned Maxx Danker from Riverside in 1:27 in the semifinals. In the finals, Shaha pinned Nodaway Valley’s Ty Strode in 3:02 to win the weight class.
The Raiders had ten wrestlers at the meet. Of those ten, there were four place winners, including Shaha capturing the 120-pound weight class. Bryson Martin placed third at 126, and Nathan Roemer placed third at 132. Bracken Collier added a fourth-place finish at 190.
Martin finished the season 49-13 and placed third at 126. He was 3-1 at the meet. Martin pined Shenandoah’s Davin Holste in 2:58 in the quarterfinals. Martin would lose in the semifinals by an 18-1 tech fall, but worked his way back in the consolation round to pick up a pair of pins to place third.

Roemer placed third at 132 and finished the season 33-25. He was 3-2 at the meet. Roemer pinned Silas Hayes from East Union in the quarterfinals in 3:26. Roemer lost in the semifinals, but came back to win two matches in a row. Roemer pinned Carson Cooper from SW Valley in 58 seconds and in the third-place match, Roemer won a 4-3 decision over Chase O’Riley from Lenox to earn a wrestleback match. In that match, Roemer lost a 20-6 major decision to Cole Scamman from Shenandoah to place third.
Collier was seeded third at 190. Collier had a bye in the quarterfinals at 190 and lost to Caleb Christensen from Nodaway Valley in the semifinals by pin in 2:58. Collier would rebound with a win in the consolation semifinals by pin over Caden Kaufman from Lenox in 1:10 to reach the third place match. In that match, Collier saw his season end with a 9-7 decision loss to Gaven Hackett from Riverside. Collier finished the season 36-18.
The Raiders had six wrestlers compete, but not place at their weight classes. They were Weston Adams at 106, Tate Schaefer at 138, Tegan Hill at 150, Austin Briner at 157, Cordell Clemens at 215, and Jonathan Morales at 285.
Weston Adams was 1-2 at the tournament. Adams lost in the quarterfinals and won his only match, by pin, over Grant Gould from Bedford in 1:56 in the consolation round. He then lost to Degan Farweell from SW Valley in the next round of the consolation matches. Adams was seeded 4th in the weight class and ended the year 34-23.
Tate Schaefer went 0-2 in two matches. Schaefer was seeded 8th in the weight class and ends the year 13-21.
Tegan Hill wrestled in the 150-pound weight class. He was in one match, wrestling Noah Driskill from East Union. Hill fell in that match by pin in 3:48 to end his season 16-32. Hill was seeded 9th at the weight class.
Austin Briner wrestled in the 157-pound weight class. Briner was seeded 9th in the weight class and finished the season 9-37.
Cordell Clemens wrestled in three matches and was 1-2. He lost in the quarterfinals by a major decision and rebounded with a win in the consolation round pinning Emmett Green from Essex in 1:38. Clemens lost in the next round. Clemens was seeded 4th and finished the year 32-23.
Jonathan Morales wrestled in a pair of matches, falling in both. Morales was seeded 8th in the weight class. Morales lost to the winner of the weight class, Nodaway Valley’s Trent Warner in the quarterfinals and then lost in the consolation round. Morales finished the year 5-24.
