The Mount Ayr girl’s track and field team began a two-meet week on Tuesday, April 8, at the Kip Janvrin Invitational in Panora. There, the Raiderettes placed ninth as a team with 37 points.

Central Decatur won the meet with 101 points while Madrid was second with 100 points and Ogden was third with 91 points. Some of the meet’s 14 teams were added to the meet after meets on Monday were canceled due to the weather.
Aubree Shields won the only event for Mount Ayr, capturing the high jump event with a top jump of 5-feet, 4 inches. MaKel Jones placed fourth in the long jump, and Emily Knox placed 10th in the shot put to give Mount Ayr three, top-10 finishes in field events.

Mount Ayr’s top relay finish was a fourth-place finish in the 4X800 and a fifth-place finish in the 4X400-meter relay. The 4X8 team of Tatum Friedrich, Kate Newton, Ashlyn Murphy, and Addison Doolittle placed fourth in 11:14.01. The Raiderettes 4X400-meter relay team of Newton, Murphy, Doolittle, and Friedrich placed fifth in 4:40.34.
Shields placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.69. Two others also placed fifth in an individual event. Ryley Greenwell placed fifth in the 3,000-meter run, and Tatum Friedrich placed fifth in the 800-meter run. Other Raiderettes to place in the top-10 were Jaxy Knight in the 100-meter dash and Addison Doolittle in the 400-meter dash.
