MOUNT AYR, Iowa — As winter sports season begins to ramp up coach Mitch Doolittle is looking forward to the second year of girls wrestling at Mount Ayr.
It will also be Doolittle’s first year coaching at the high school level.
Despite the newness of both coach and team, the sights are set on greatness.
“I am looking for improvement overall as a team this year.” he said.
“I am looking for everyone of these girls to level up this year.” he continued.
Mount Ayr was previously in a co-op before they left it in 2023. The first wrestling meet will be held at Southwest Valleys’s Activity Center.
Doolittle looks for community support in this upcoming season.
“It’s the beginning of girls wrestling every meet they change, improve, and grow,” he said. “You can watch it happen in real time.”
