Raiders places 11 on all-district teams

MOUNT AYR, Iowa — Several Mount Ayr football players were recently honored with the release of the Class A District 7 All-District teams. In total there were 10 Raiders receiving all-district recognition. The annual honors list had four Raiders on the first team offense and defense squads, a pair of selections on the second team and an honorable mention pick. The Raiders were 6-4 this season with a win in the playoffs.
There were four Raiders on the first team all-district offense. Quarterback Jackson Ruggles was the first team quarterback selection in the district as the senior had over 1,200 yards of total offense for the third straight season. Ruggles passed for 560 yards on 24 completions with eight touchdown passes this season. He added 744 yards rushing with 14 rushing scores on 58 carries. For his four-year career, Ruggles passed for 2,271 yards on 131 completions with 24 touchdown passes. Ruggles had a four-year rushing total of 1,780 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns. He rushed 233 times with a career average of 7.6 yards per rush attempt.
Dyson Thompson was a first team running back pick, one of five selections at the position after a breakout season. Thompson rushed for a team high 1,151 yards on 123 carries with 12 touchdowns and a 9.4-per rush average. Offensive lineman Drew Graham was a first team all-district selection. Graham helped the Raiders offense rush for nearly 3,000 yards as the Raiders as a team rushed for 2,924 yards, 38 rushing touchdowns, and a 7.3-yard per rush average. Graham also helped the Mount Ayr offense add 660 yards passing for a total of 3,584 yards of offense this year.
Adler Reed also was a first team selection, as one of two utility picks. Reed rushed for 328 yards on 58 carries with a touchdown and 5.7-per rush average and was the top Raiders receiver with 325 yards on 15 catches with four touchdown catches.
Four Raiders were picked on the first-team defense team. They were defensive lineman Bracken Collier, linebacker Rowan Sackett, defensive back Isac Dugan, and punter Tate Dugan.
Collier had 64.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss from his defensive line position. Sackett led the Raiders in tackles this year with 95 to go with a team high 13 tackles for loss and a pair of sacks. Isac Dugan had 41 tackles from his defensive back spot. Tate Dugan was the district’s best punter, averaging 36.3 yards per punt on 18 punt attempts.
Tate Dugan was also a second team selection on offense at running back. Offensive lineman Logan Worthington was also a second team offense pick. Tate Dugan rushed for 480 yards on 77 carries with nine rushing touchdowns and a 6.2-yard per rush average. He also caught five passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Worthington helped the Mount Ayr offense rush for nearly 3,000 yards as the Raiders as a team rushed for 2,924 yards, 38 rushing touchdowns and a 7.3-yard per rush average. Worthington also helped the Raiders offense add 660 yards passing for a total of 3,584 yards of offense this year.
A pair of Raiders were honorable mention picks with Tate Larson and Trace Knapp. Knapp had 44 tackles and Larson had 19.5 tackles.
