MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department recently arrested one of the conspirators in a multi-state fraud investigation.
On February 10, Riley Culbertson, age 18, turned himself into the Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant issued for Theft-second degree and was released after posting bond.
Culbertson is alleged to have been a part of a multi-state fraud ring along with Cory Richard Kreiling of Missouri. The reported fraud was being perpetuated by a company believed to be called MG Construction according to Missouri law enforcement reports. The activity consisted contacting elderly residents throughout northern Missouri and into southern Iowa with promises to perform work on their properties, specifically tree trimming and removal, but was accompanied by outrageous fees including one such incident that approached $30,000, which was previously reported in the Record-News and Diagonal Progress.
Kreiling was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Missouri on a charge of aggravated fleeing but was later amended to include the theft charges against the elderly.
Ringgold County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Nathan Nickle handled the booking.
