MOUNT AYR, Iowa — With spring almost here there are many activities exciting adventures about to bloom across Ringgold County.
From wildlife to lakes, the outdoors are always a good place to look when thinking about spending a day doing fun.
Ringgold County is home to a variety of fishing spots and lakes with the most noteworthy being Fogle Lake, Loch Ayr, Liberty Lake to name a few. Whether it be for fishing or sight seeing lakes are a great place to spend time soaking up the springtime sun.
Ringgold County is also home to other outdoor activities such as the Trailway, Poe Hollow, Fife’s Grove Park and a few more.
There are several events that happen throughout the county from month to month to be on the lookout for. Great sources of information on the events can be the newspaper and the multiple Ringgold County social media pages.
Some events that are to take place within the time frame of spring are included, but not limited to: Breakfast with the Master, PUZZLE PALOOZA, Breast Cancer Awareness Style show and the Road Trip Ringgold.
Breakfast with the Master is being held March 30 – April 3 in preparation for Easter. PUZZLE PALOOZA is a board game event with some twist with 15 teams of four all competing against each other. It will be held on April 18. Breast Cancer Awareness Style show will be held May 3 and includes a style show and a silent auction in support of women battling breast cancer in Ringgold County. Road Trip Ringgold will be held June 6 to help promote tourism and commerce in Ringgold County. The event consists of county-wide garage sales while also supporting local businesses with shop hopping. It is free to get your garage sale on the map and the deadline to do so is May 22.
On March 21 the American Legion is holding a craft and vendor show. The Tingley community is holding an open house for their new community building that was rebuilt after the devastating tornado two years ago. The American Legion will hold another event on April 18 called the Forgotten Find and Bazaar at the American Legion building. The event is acting like an indoor yard sale. The Ringgold County Hospital will hold its gala on April 18.
There are many things to do and to keep you busy in Ringgold County and the Record-News is the best place to look for upcoming events.
