It may be of interest to some to know that the first grave dug in the Tingley Cemetery was January 5, 1887, an infant of Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Berry, being buried on that day.
The West Side Service Station, Stroup & Batman proprietors, presents a neat appearance since the stuccoing and painting was completed.
C.L. Maloy, of Redding, candidate for the democratic nomination for member of the board of supervisors, term beginning January, 1928, was greeting friends and attending to business in the county seat yesterday.
There 33,000 less persons on lowa farms in 1925 than in 1920, according to figures in the Iowa farm census for 1925, released by the government recently. In 1920 there were 984,799 persons living on farms, and last year there were 951,558. The value of farm products sold in 1924, the figures show, was as compared 1919. Supplies

The Mount Ayr swimming beach, known as the old city reservoir will be offically open to bathers Sunday, June 17, under the supervison of Bill Eddy and Kenneth Smith, who will serve as lifeguards.
Word has been received by Mrs. Robert W. Mahrenholz, of this city that her husband, Pvt. Robert W. Mahrenholz, has been listed as missing in action in Korea since April 23rd.
Pvt. Mahrenholz, son of Mrs. Milo Hoff, of Ellston, served two and one-half year during Worrld War 2 and re-entered service as a reserve in October, 1950. He left the States for Korea on February 27, of this year.
The rural schoolhouse in Jefferson district No. 2 was sold Saturday at public auction to Zenas R. Kilgore.
The building, contents and land sold for $801. The acre of land was purchased by Mrs. E. C. Heaton.

Joe Drake, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Drake of Mount Ayr, escaped with a slight contusion to the skull when ‘he was involved in an accident about 11:45 a.m. Monday, June 7. Drake was riding his bicycle near the northwest edge of the Mount Ayr school grounds when he was struck by a car driven by Mary Sue Webb of Mount Ayr. Drake was taken to the Ringgold County Hospital for examination and treatment and was released. Damage to the Webb car was about $100 and to the bicycle, $50.
Jim Denney and Jeff French, both of Mount Ayr, swept the second week of racing at the Ringgold County Speedway Sunday. Denney and French won three races each in the sportsman and street stock claimer classes, respectively.
A former Mount Ayr Community school athlete was the top hitter for the Marshalltown Community college baseball team this spring. Ken Runyon, who graduated from MACHS in 1975, appeared in 15 games for the Marshalltown collected 10 hits in 24 trips to the plate for a healthy .417 average. Runyon, a pitcher and infielder here, played third base for the MCC club.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bailey attended a pig roast at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Parker Sunday.
Karen Caldwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Caldwell, and Randy Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Taylor, were married in a lovely wedding ceremony Saturday evening in the Redding United Methodist church.
Tamara Fugate, daugher of Rose and Dean Fugate of Kellerton, has been selected to represent Grand Valley Community high school in the Society Distinguished American High School Students the nation’s leading high school honorary.

A second person has been arrested in the case surrounding the homicide of Larry White, 39, of Mount Ayr last November.
Ronald Gibson, 22, or rural Bethany, was arrested May 30 by Harrison County, MO, sheriffs’ officers who have been investigating circumstances surrounding the disposal of White’s body after he was killed.
Gladys Johnston will be celebrating her 105th birthday Tuesday, June 19 at the Clearview Nursing Home. Gladys was born near Caledonia in 1896 and graduated from Mount Ayr high school in 1915. Jamie (Denney) and Ben Israel of Florissant, MO are the parents of a son, Cody, born May 27.

Veteran bicyclist and Mount Ayr native Ron Sickels recommends that residents get out and meet some of the several thousand RAGBRAI riders when they pedal through town on July 26.
“ People should take the time to get out and talk to some of the riders. There are many interesting people on RAGBRAI,” said Sickels, who will be participating in his 35th annual bicycle trek across Iowa the last week of July.
This year’s ride will be special for Sickels because he and the other approximately 10,000 riders will be passing through Mount Ayr for the third time in the history of theof the event.
At a special meeting held Wednesday, June 1, members of the Ringgold County Hospital Board of Trustees present voted unanimously to move forward with the removal of the parking lot/helicopter landing pad at the old hospital site.
Payton Weehler, son of Neil and Jill Weehler of Maloy, has qualified for Nationals in Junior High Rodeo.
