MARY GRIFFITH O’CONNOR

MARY GRIFFITH O’CONNOR DIED AT HER HOME IN MALOY, IOWA, SUNDAY FEBRUARY 2, 1919, AGED 70 YEARS, EIGHT MONTHS AND FIFTEEN DAYS. SHE WAS BORN IN TULLIMORE, COUNTY KERRY IRELAND, AND WHEN FIFTEEN YEARS OF AGE EMIGRATED TO AMERICA, FIRST TO MONTREAL, CANADA, AND LATER TO CHICAGO, IL. ON OCTOBER 16, 1870, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO JAMES O’CONNOR AND IN 1881 THE FAMILY MOVED TO IOWA, LOCATING IN RINGGOLD COUNTY, THREE MILES NORTH OF BLOCKTON, WHERE THEY MADE THEIR HOME UNTIL EIGHT YEARS AGO, WHEN THEY MOVED TO MALOY.

BESIDES HER HUSBAND SHE LEAVES TO MOURN HER DEATH FOUR SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS, MAURICE, EDWARD, JOHN AND MRS. D. R. SHAY OF THE VICINITY OF MALOY; DR. T. G. O’CONNOR OF IMOGENE, IOWA; MRS LUKE E. HART OF ST. LOUIS, MO.; SIXTEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND A HOST OF RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.

THE FUNERAL WAS HELD AT ST. MARY’S CHURCH, MALOY, AT 10 O’CLOCK A. M. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, AND THE REMAINS WERE LAID TO REST IN ST. MARY’S CEMETERY. REV. P. J. O’CONNOR OF GRACEVILLE, MN., OFFICIATED AT THE FUNERAL SERVICE. MRS. D. O’HEARN AND SON, MRS. T. CRANE AND SON AND MRS. BAMBURY OF CHICAGO WERE PRESENT. THE FOUR SONS AND SONS-IN-LAW ACTED AS PALL BEARERS.
