Thomas Jefferson Williams

Thomas Jefferson Williams, the second son of John T. and Jane Williams, pioneer resident of Ringgold County, was born in Jefferson Township, October 17, 1857 and passed away at Mount Ayr on April 29, 1924, at the age of 66 years 6 months and 11 days. He resided in Ringgold County the entire period of his life. On September 9, 1883, he was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and continued a consistent member thereof from that date. He was united in marriage on October 18, 1884, to Mary Catherine Wood, the daughter of the Rev. W.R. Wood, of the Des Moines conference. His wife, beloved by all who knew her, passed away on July 2, 1917.  Of the immediate members of his family two brothers, R.B. of Omaha, NE and J.A. of Mount Ayr, and four sisters, Mrs. H.L. Royce of Creston; Mrs. T.H. Leasure and Mrs. G. M. Kirby of Buffalo, NY, survive him.  Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Jay Kirkendall, and interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
