Mattie Corda Harvey Gray

Mattie Corda Gray, daughter of Robert and Rhoda Harvey, was born near Blockton, Iowa, August 22, 1872, and passed away at the Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, MO., March 18, 1943, at the age of 70 years, six months and 24 days. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of Blockton and early in life became a member of the Methodist Church in Blockton.

On September 3, 1896, she was united in marriage to Earl Elwood Gray and to this union was born one son, Louie, now residing near Mount Ayr.

She was kind and loving wife and mother and a good neighbor, always thinking of the welfare of her loved ones and friends.

Mrs. Gray found great joy and comfort in her little grandson, Melvin who will miss his happy visits with Grandma Gray.

Besides her husband, son, daughter-in-law and little grandson, she is survived by two brothers, W.A. Harvey of Conway, and Milton Harvey of Blockton, also a number of nieces and nephews.

A little granddaughter, Martha Sue, preceded here in death, April 23, 1938.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, March 21, at the Rev. E.B. Stewart, pastor. Burial was made in the Blockton Cemetery.
