EARL ELWOOD GRAY

EARL ELWOOD GRAY, SON OF JAMES AND SARAH GRAY, WAS BORN NEAR BLOCKTON, IOWA, SEPTEMBER 3, 1873, AND DIED AT THE BROADLAWNS GENERAL HOSPITAL, DES MOINES, IOWA, JANUARY 27, 1944, AGED 70 YEARS, FOUR MONTHS AND 24 DAYS,

HE GREW TO MANHOOD IN THE BLOCKTON VICINITY AND EARLY IN LIFE UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH.

ON SEPTEMBER 3, 1896, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRAIGE TO MATTIE HARVEY, TO WHICH UNION WAS BORN ONE SON, LOUIE, NOW LIVING NEAR MOUNT AYR.

HE SPENT MOST OF HIS LIFE IN THE BLOCKTON COMMUNITY, EXCEPTING 15 YEARS WHICH HE SPENT FARMING IN SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA.

AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH HE WAS EMPLOYED BY THE H. AND H. COM., OF DES MOINES, BUT PLANNED TO RETURN TO BLOCKTON TO FARM WHEN SPRING CAME.

HIS WIFE PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH, MARCH 18, 1943.

BESIDES HIS SON, LOUIE AND WIFE AND GRANDSON, MELVIN, HE IS SURVIVED BY ONE HALF-BROTHER, DONALD N. GRAY, OF DES MOINES AND ONE HALF SISTER, MRS. JESSIE GROPZ.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD FROM THE METHODIST CHURCH IN BLOCKTON SUNDAY AFTERNOON, JANUARY 30. BURIAL WAS MADE IN BLOCKTON CEMETERY.
