HARRY OVERHOLSER

HARRY OVERHOLSER, 52, DIED AT THE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN KANSAS CITY, MO., MONDAY, JANUARY 24. HE ENTERED THE HOSPITAL ON JANUARY 9 AND LATER UNDERWENT A MAJOR SURGICAL OPERATION. HE SEEMED TO BE DOING WELL, BUT A QUICK TURN CAME THE DAY BEFORE HIS DEATH. HE WAS BORN AT CLEARFIELD, IOWA, AUGUST 26, 1891 AND GREW TO MANHOOD IN THIS COMMUNITY. HE ATTENDED HIGHLAND PARK COLLEGE IN DES MOINES, FROM WHICH HE GRADUATED. HE WAS MARRIED JUNE 2, 1915, TO MISS BESSIE DARLINGTON, WHO SURVIVES HIM. THEY LOCATED AT CALHOUN, MO.,  BUT IN 1917 MOVED TO ELDORADO, KS., WHICH WAS THEIR HOME EXCEPT FOR ONE YEAR, WHICH WAS SPENT IN FLORENCE, KS. HE FIRST WORKED IN THE DRUG STORE AT ELDORADO. ABOUT 1925 HE PURCHASED A DRUG STOCK AND OPERATED IT THEREAFTER, LATER BUYING A SECOND STOCK AND COMBINING THE TWO. THERE IS ONE SON, CAPT. NORMAN OVERHOLSER, WHO IS STATIONED AT CAMP BARKELEY, TX., AND A DAUGHTER, SYBELLE, WHO IS EMPLOYED IN THE UNIVERSIY OF KANSAS HOSPITAL. HIS PARENTS, MR. AND MRS. R. R. OVERHOLSER OF MISSION, TX., ARE WELL KNOWN HERE. A BROTHER, EUGENE OF MISSION, TX., AND A SISTER RUTH, OF STERLING, KS., ALSO SURVIVE. ACCORDING TO A NEWSPAPER ACCOUNT HARRY HAS BEEN PRESIDENT OF THE CITY BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR SOME TIME. HE WAS PUBLIC SPIRITED ESPECIALLY INTERESTED IN SCHOOLS AND IN YOUNG MEN. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE METHODIST CHURCH AND A MEMBER OF THE MASONIC LODGE. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD WEDNESDAY AT ELDORADO.
