Della Jane Smith Jones

Della Jane Smith Jones, daughter of John Wesley Smith and Mary Annis Albee Smith, was born January 8, 1891, near Denver, in Worth County, Missouri, and departed this life September 22, 1965, in her home near Lamoni, Iowa at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 14 days.

Most of her life was spent in Worth and Ringgold Counties. She was a member of the Methodist Church in  Watkins, MO.

On January 19, 1908, she was united in marriage with Virgil Baxter Jones, of Worth County, and of this union were born four children–Virgie (Mrs. Gerald Magee) of Redding, Wesley of Lamoin, Arlene (Mrs. George Kimble) of Savannah, MO. and Opal (Mrs. Everett Morse) of Lamoni.

 Preceding her in death were her mother, father and three grandchildren.

 Those who survive are her husband, Baxter Jones; four children; 17 grandchildren;19 great grandchildren; two half sisters, Bertha Palmer, of Hollywood, CA. and May Bowen of Denver, MO.; three sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held September 25, from Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, conducted by the Rev. Wm.H. Morehouse. Mrs George German and Mrs. Ray Still sang, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Rollin Noble. The flowers were in charge of the Mesdames Eldon Ambrose, Robert Bennett and Virgie Aborn and Cathy Kimble. Casketbearers were Wesley Jones Jr., George M.Kimble, Carl Kimble, Leroy Morse, David Thurman and Dale Magee. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
