AMOS RAY STEWART

AMOS RAY STEWART, SON OF WILLIAM AND SARA STEWART, WAS BORN AUGUST 6, 1892, NEAR KELLERTON, IOWA. AFTER A LINGERING ILLNESS, HE DEPARTED THIS LIFE JANUARY 4, 1968 IN RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL IN MOUNT AYR AT THE AGE OF 76 YEARS, FOUR MONTHS AND 10 DAYS.

ON JULY 4, 1912, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE WITH LELA OLSON AND OF THIS UNION WERE BORN FIVE CHILDREN, TWO OF WHOM PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH-NIEDA MARIE IN INFANCY AND GENE IN 1949.

GRANDPA, AS HE WAS KNOWN BY HIS FAMILY, WAS A MEMBER OF THE METHODIST CHURCH OF ELLSTON. HE SPENT MOST OF HIS LIFE IN AND NEAR ELLSTON. HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED BY HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

ALL WAS DONE THAT COULD BE DONE, YET A LOVING HUSBAND, A DEVOTED FATHER AND GRANDFATHER AND A LOYAL FRIEND ANSWERED THE SUMMONS AND THE SPIRIT WINGED ITS WAY BACK TO GOD WHOM HAD GIVEN IT.

HE LEAVES TO MOURN HIS PASSING, HIS DEVOTED WIDOW, LELA; TWO SONS, VAUGHN OF NEWTON AND ADEN OF BEACONSFIELD; A DAUGHTER RUTH EGLY OF KELLERTON;  20 GRANDCHILDREN; 16 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; THREE SISTERS, OLIVE MCMICKELL, ANGIE WYRILL AND HAZEL MILLER, ALL OF KANSAS, AND A HOST OF RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD JANUARY 6 FROM RHOADES FUNERAL HOME IN MOUNT AYR, CONDUCTED BY THE REV. WARD CAMPBELL. BILL HAROVER, VOCALIST, WAS ACCOMPANIED AT THE ORGAN BY MARGARET PENCE AND CASKET BEARERS WERE GARY, DEAN, DAVID, LARRY , CHARLES AND RAYMOND STEWART.

BURIAL WAS IN THE ELLSTON CEMTERY.
