Virgil Baxter Jones
Virgil Baxter Jones, son of Marvello M. and Mary Jane Steele Jones, was born May 1, 1886, near Washington Center, MO., and passed away January 19, 1969, in the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. Everett Morse, where he had made his home since June 1st of last year, at the age of 82 years, 8 months, and 18 days.
On January 19, 1908, she was united in marriage with Della Smith, of Denver, MO., and of this union were born four children, Virgie (Mrs. Gerald Magee) of Redding, Wesley of Lamoni, Arlene (Mrs. George Kimble) of Savannah, MO., and Opal (Mrs. Everett Morse), of Lamoni.
Many years ago he joined the Watkins Missouri Methodist. He had been quite poorly the last month.
He was preceded in death by his wife on September 22, 1965; his parents, several sisters and brothers and three granddaugthers.
Survivors are his children; three sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers, Thurman Jones of Lincoln, NE. and Tony Jones of Washington Center, MO., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held January 23, from the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Swinton. Music was provided by Mrs. Harrison Link, vocalist, and Margaret Pence, organist. Casketbearers were Eldon Ambrose, Dale Magee, LeRoy Morse, Wesley Jones, Jr., Robert Bennett, Virgil Aborn, Carl Kimble and David Thurman. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
