LOREN E. BARRY

AFTER AN EXTENDED ILLNESS LOREN E. BARRY GAVE UP THE FIGHT AND ENTERED INTO ETERNAL LIFE ON FEBRUARY 27, 2008 AT CLEARVIEW HOME IN CLEARFIELD, IOWA.

HE WAS BORN AT THE SAINT JOSPEH’S HOSPITAL IN OMAHA, NE., ON  MARCH 13, 1924. HE AND HIS BROTHERS, EARL AND NORMAN, LIVED WITH THEIR PARENTS ON THE FAMILY FARM NEAR WAHOO, NE., UNTIL HE WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD IN 1932 WHEN THE FAMILY MOVED TO A FARM SIX MILES SOUTH AND WEST OF CLEARFIELD. HE ATTENDED GRANT #8 COUNTRY SCHOOL AND GRADUATED FROM CLEARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL IN 1942.

LOREN SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES ARMY FROM JUNE 30, 1942 TO JANUARY 5, 1946, BEING HONORABLY DISCHARGED IN FLORIDA. WHILE IN THE SERVICE, HE WAS A RADAR REPAIRMAN OF GUNLAYING EQUIPMENT AND SPENT MUCH OF HIS TIME IN THE ALEUTIAN ISLANDS ALTHOUGH HE DID NOT GET TO TRAVEL TO MANY STATES IN THE US. UPON HIS RETURN HE CONTINUED TO LIVE WITH HIS PARENTS AND WORK ON THE FARM.

OVER THE YEARS HE ENJOYED HIS BROTHER NORMAN’S FAMILY AND BECAME A LOVING UNCLE  TO HIS NIECE, NORMAN, SPENDING MEMORABLE HOURS ATTENDING BALLGAMES, GRADUATIONS AND MUSCIAL EVENTS OF NORMA AND LAWRENCE’S CHILDREN, , MITCH, NICOLE, HOLLY AND LEAH. ALTHOUGH HE NEVER MARRIED, HE LOVED HIS NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND WAS DEVOTED TO THIS FAMILY.

BECAUSE OF HIS FAILING HEALTH, HE SPENT THE LAST YEARS OF HIS LIFE IN THE CLEARVIEW NURSING HOME WHERE HE WAS A FAVORITE RESIDENT OF MANY OF THE PERSONNEL AT THE HOME.

HE IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, EDWIN C. BARRY AND LORA GARRETT BARRY; BROTHER, EARL BARRY AND NEPHEW MITCH SIVERLY.

HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS BROTHER, NORMAN BARRY; HIS SISTER-IN-LAW, MAJORIE BARRY; HIS NIECE, NORMA AND HUSBAND LAWRENCE SIVERLY AND GREAT-NIECES, NICOLE CARTER AND HUSBAND TOM, HOLLY AND LEAH SIVERLY.

A GRAVESIDE SERVICE WAS HELD IN WAHOO, NE., AND HE WAS LAID TO REST IN THE SUNRISE CEMETERY NEAR HIS PARENTS AND SIBLINGS.
