ROBERT WAYNE WOOLLUMS

ROBERT WAYNE WOOLLUMS PASSED AWAY MARCH 1, 2008 IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN BORN TO WILLIAM P. AND EVA (AMBROSIER) WOOLLUMS OF ELLSTON, IOWA, ROBERT “BOB” WAS THE LAST SURVIVING SIBLING.

ROBERT WAS BORN AND SPENT HIS YOUTH IN ELLSTON WHERE HE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, MET AND MARRIED HAZEL (TURPIN) AND BEGAN FARMING.

THE COUPLE MOVED TO WINTERSET IN THE EARLY 1940’S WITH THEIR THREE CHILDREN WHERE THEY FARMED UNTIL 1953 WHEN THE FAMILY MOVED TO CALIFORNIA. IN SAN DIEGO ROBERT OWNED A GAS-SERVICE STATION WORKING THE NIGHT SHIFT AT CONVAIR UNTIL 1956 WHEN BEGAN WORKING FOR CONTRACTOR SUPPLY.

IN 1970 ROBERT AND HAZEL WERE ABLE TO RETIRE, RETURNING TO MOUNT AYR, IOWA AND ROBERT’S FIRST LOVE, FARMING. THEY REALLY RETIRED IN 1978 MOVING INTO TOWN ALTHOUGH ROBERT LIKED TO KEEP HIS HAND IN FARMING BY HELPING RELATIVES WITH PLANTING AND HARVESTING.

ROBERT AND HAZEL MOVED BACK TO SAN DIEGO IN 1999 TO BE NEAR THEIR DAUGHTERS AND GRANDCHILDREN.

ROBERT WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE OF NEARLY 74 YEARS, HAZEL; A SON BILL; DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, MITZI; GRANDDAUGHTER, JODANE; SON-IN-LAW, ROBERT FULLER; GRANDSON, DONALD FULLER AND ALL HIS SIBLINGS.

ROBERT (OR CAWPA AS HE WAS NAMED BY HIS GRANDCHILDREN) WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR HIS SENSE OF HUMOR, PUNCTUALITY, GENEROSITY AND FAIR PLAY. HE WILL BE SORELY MISSED BY HIS DAUGHTERS, JANET KAY FULLER AND ALICE ANN EVANS; SON-IN-LAW, RICHARD EVANS; FIVE GRANDCHILDREN; 10 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; ONE GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILD AS WELL AS NUMEROUS NIECES AND NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND FRIENDS.
