Dale M. Trower May 8, 1916-August 28, 2009

 Dale M. Trower, son of George Harry Trower and Effie May McMullin Trower, was born in a farm house located north of Kellerton, Iowa on May 8, 1916. He departed this life at Heritage Nurse and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on August 28, 2009. Dale was 93 years old.

In his early years, Dale was an avid hunter and trapper. Dale was united in marriage to Leola May Smith on October 26, 1940 in Bethany, Missouri. They farmed north of Kellerton until retirement when they moved to Mount Ayr. During the farming years Dale and Leola raised many hogs and cattle. Later they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where they could be close to daughter Jane.

Left to cherish his memory are sons Larry Trower of King City, Missouri and Ronnie Trower and wife Cassandra of North Port, Florida; daughter Jane Sickels and husband Tom of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren Sheila Trower, Angela Trower, Anthony Trower, Brandy Trower, Jason Trower, Jeff Trower and Mathew Sickels; stepgrandchildren, Jessica Austin and Barry Fleming; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Luke Trower and Jared and Brandon Munyon; special friend Lucille Kremenak of Cedar Rapids, and  other relatives and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; wife Leola on August 16, 2004; brothers Richard and Donald, and sisters Doris and Dorothy.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Terry Roberts officiating. 

Music was provided by organist Nancy Sackett, John Allen sang ‘Amazing Grace’ and taped selections of ‘Daddy’s Hands’ and ‘Long Black Train.’

Casket bearers were Jason Trower, Jeff Trower, Jim Trower, Jerry Owens, Hugh Terwillinger and Steve Norris.

Dale was laid to rest in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton, Iowa. A memorial fund has been established to Care Initiatives Hospice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
