Alice Kay Greene April 21, 1937 – November 14, 2009

Alice Kay Greene, daughter of Floy Wilson and Maude Opal (McKee) Drake, was born April 21, 1937 at home northeast of Mount Ayr in Ringgold county, Iowa.
Alice graduated valedictorian of the Mount Ayr high school class of 1955. Alice was united in marriage to Dale E. Greene on February 17, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. After their marriage, Alice and Dale moved to the Ellston area. They would eventually move back to Alice’s parents’ farm where she was born and raised. They built a new home in 1992. Alice began working at Rideta Electric Company in high school. She took time off to raise her children and then returned working there, retiring in 2002 as the office manager. Alice was an active member of the United Methodist Church and the U.M.W. in Ellston and a member of the Clearview Home advisory board. Alice enjoyed making quilts. She loved her family and cared for them deeply.
Alice passed away on November 14, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floy and Maude Drake.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Dale of Mount Ayr, Iowa; her children, Craig Greene and wife Sherry of Knoxville, Iowa, Curtis Greene and wife Billie Jo of Ellston, Iowa and Leann Boswell and husband Christopher of Van Meter, Iowa; grandchildren, Melissa Greene, Steven Greene, Scott Greene and Colton Boswell; one great-grandchild, Ryan Reed; a sister, Ann Walters and husband Rex of Beaconsfield, Iowa, and other relatives and friends.
Memorials are to the Ellston United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made through Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr.
Services were conducted at the United Methodist Church in Ellston on Tuesday, November 17, 2009, with Rev. Dan Fernandez, Pastor Lila Greene and Rev. Rick Hawkins officiating. Musicians included Cathy Brause, Paula Anderson, Marsha Jones, Maurice Jones and John Allen.
Casket bearers were Mark Davison, Maurice Jones, Danny Weeda, Matthew Weeda, Doug Bullock and Gene Bullock.
Honorary pallbearers were Dave Jennings, Norman Jennings, Ivan Dolecheck and Kenny Berguson.
Alice was laid at rest in the Ellston Cemetery, Ellston.
