Winnafred L. Horton March 6, 1916 – February 23, 2010

 Winnafred L. Horton, 93, of Clearfield, Iowa, passed away on February 23, 2010 at the Clearview Home in Clearfield.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 27, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield with Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield. A memorial fund has been established to the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary, both in Clearfield, and the Boy Scouts of America. Arrangements were by Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Clearfield.

Mrs. Horton was born March 6, 1916 in Somerville, Massachusetts, the daughter of Julia Winnafred (Cochran) LeBaron and Arthur Lindell LeBaron. Winnafred graduated from Somerville high school in 1934 with honors and from North Central College, Naperville, Illinois in 1939.

Winnafred started her high school teaching career in 1939 at Bartlett, Iowa. She taught at Thayer, Iowa next and then at Cropsey, Illinois during World War II. After the war, she started her family and later taught French and English at Lenox and Central City, Iowa, retiring from teaching in 1972.

On July 29, 1943 Winnafred married Leroy Reeve in San Francisco, California. They divorced in 1973. Winnafred married James Horton on January 9, 1977.

Winnafred was a 50-year member of both the United Methodist Church and Cornelia Chapter No. 524 Order of the Eastern Star in Clearfield. She was a member of the Woodside Post, American Legion Auxiliary, the Modern Literary Club in Clearfield and the Creston Chapter of National Retired Teachers Association.

Winnafred is survived by her children, Jim (wife Remy) Reeve of Warrenton, Virginia, Dick (wife Carol Ann) Reeve of Creston, Iowa, Nancy Reeve of Mesquite, Texas and Tom (wife Sue) Reeve of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren, Angelica Reeve, Steve (wife Michelle) Rhine, Rick (wife Wendy) Reeve, Annette (husband Pete) Faux, David Reeve, Kathryn Reeve (fianc?? Chris Boland), Emily Reeve, Brian (wife Shannon) Reeve and Tommy Reeve; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Jordan Rhine, Elizabeth, Cassie and Hayden Reeve, Elsie Faux, Esther Reeve, Chance and Isabel Reeve and Kaede Reeve; sister, Pearl Lashon of Arlington Massachusetts, and step-son-in-law, Bob Page.

Winnafred was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Henry (wife Lucy) LeBaron and Russell (wife Betty) LeBaron; sisters, Helen LeBaron and Margery (husband Carl) Lawrence; brother-in-law, Lyman Lashon; both husbands; granddaughter, Christy Rhine; great-grandson, Sawyer Rhine, and stepdaughter, Joyce Page.
