Dorothy Louise Keller September 10, 1930 – October 12, 2011

Dorothy Louise Keller, age 81, of Grand River, Iowa, was born September 10, 1930 to Virgil James and Bessie Lorraine (Glazebrook) Buell, north of Grand River in Decatur county, Iowa. She passed from this life at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa on Wednesday, October 12, 2011.
Dorothy graduated from Grand River high school and was a lifelong resident of the Grand River community. She married Don Richard Keller on September 11, 1948. To this union two children, Ricky Lee and Kay Jeannine, were born.
Dorothy and Don farmed on Sand Creek and later farmed west of Grand River and had a small dairy herd. Over the years, Dorothy worked for O’Bryan Brothers sewing factory in Leon, the Valley Grocery in Grand River and cooked at the Grand Valley elementary school in Grand River. Dorothy and Don owned the grocery store in Grand River for a short while and cooked many years at the Grand River meal site. Dorothy loved for the grandkids to stop in after school for snacks and to tell what they had been doing. She usually had homemade cookies and all the ice cream they wanted. Dorothy and Don shared in the love of their devoted dog, Yogi.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; husband, Don, on August 3, 2011; infant brother, James, and several aunts and uncles.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Rick and Nancy Keller of Grand River, Iowa and Kay Willey of New Market, Iowa; grandchildren, Melinda and JR Mackey, Andrew and Amber Keller, Cindee and Ryan O’Dell, Scott and Mindy Bebout, Todd and Julie Strange, Jason and Sierra Bebout, Casey and Mike Reidel and Dusty and Carrie Bebout; numerous great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand River on Friday, October 14, 2011, with Father Glen Wilwerding officiating. Burial was in the O’Grady Cemetery north of Grand River.
