John William Egly II

John William Egly, II, son of J.W. (Bill) and Ruth (Stewart) Egly, was born December 10, 1955 at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
John graduated from Mount Ayr Community high school in 1974. On April 8, 1977, he married Marlee (Daniel) Hansen in Mount Ayr, Iowa. John worked for Elliott Farms for over six years before a 27-year career with DeBruce Ag in Benton, Iowa. He enjoyed woodworking and was active in Boy Scouts for 13 years with six of those years as a Boy Scout leader.
John passed away May 2, 2012 at his home in Redding. He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Marlee Egly; five sons, Jeff (Deb) Hansen, Joe (Robin) Hansen, Jon (Crystal) Hansen, J.W. (DeNelle) Egly, III and Josh Egly; 13 grandchildren; mother, Ruth Egly; five siblings, Nieda Cunningham, Billie (Richard) Sucher, Kathy (John) McFarland, Barb (Jerry) Gregg and James Egly, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
Services were held at the Redding Cemetery in Redding, Iowa on Friday, May 4, 2012 with Pastor Edward Shields officiating.
Casket bearers were J.W. Egly, Josh Egly, Dave Hunt, John Hunt, Robert Detweiler and Tracy Cameron.
Honorary pallbearers included Morris Carpenter, Ray Uresk, Garey Woollums and Brent Geringher.
Burial was in the Redding Cemetery in Redding.
A memorial fund has been established in his name to be decided later.
