Oliver Dennis Eighmy

    Oliver (Dennis) Eighmy died May 11, 2012. Dennis was born January 4, 1947 in Maryville, Missouri to Wayne and Mary Eighmy. He is survived by his wife, Linda Eighmy, one aunt and uncle (Junior and Mary Jo Oliver), and numerous cousins.
    Dennis was raised in Grant City, Missouri and attended high school at Worth County RI. Dennis attended three years of college at Central Methodist in Fayette, Missouri studying journalism. Dennis quit school for the adventures of the army, from October 15, 1968 until his honorable discharge on April 18, 1972. While in the army, Dennis had infantry and airborne training, psychological operations, jumpmaster course and military advisor training (OCS) and was commissioned first lieutenant.
    Dennis spent most of his life traveling the western states as a sporting goods representative and 13 years as a white water guide. He returned to Grant City in 2000 to help care for his father and mother.
    Dennis’ greatest love in life was fishing all over the U.S. (including Alaska) and Panama and spending time with his many friends.
    Funeral services were held at the Prugh Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri on Tuesday, May 15. Burial was in the Grant City cemetery. Memorials may be donated to the United Methodist Church in Grant City or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
