ANNA PEARL MAY

Anna Pearl May, daughter of Elmer W. and Roxie (Archer) Collier, was born July 18, 1927 near Malvern, Iowa. Pearl moved with her family to the Mount Ayr, Iowa area at a young age where she lived the rest of her life.
Pearl married Carl Edward May on January 26, 1947 in Mount Ayr. Pearl was a homemaker and worked as a paper hanger for many years. She loved dancing and playing cards, cribbage and bears. Pearl always wanted to be called ‘Mom’ by her family and their friends.
After Carl passed away on July 28, 1986, Pearl moved to Tingley. Loren Drake would become her special friend and companion until his passing in August of 2011.
Pearl passed away on May 17, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl, and siblings, John Collier, Lorraine Comer, Everett (Buck) Collier and twin brothers in infancy, Tommie and Donnie Collier.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Erwin May of Chula Vista, California, Carlotta (John) Carr of Des Moines, Iowa and Carlene (Dan Erickson) Blomker of Humboldt, Iowa; a foster son, Rick (Laura) Medlin, who came into their family in 1974; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives; two very close friends, Margaret Hull and Lowell Schaefer, and many friends in the community.
A memorial fund has been established to the Tingley Meal Site.
Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Monday, May 21, 2012, with Pastor Edward Shields officiating. Musicians were Andy Trullinger, Mary Davenport and Margaret Bickers.
Casket bearers included Chad Blomker, Clint Blomker, Ryan May, John Michael Carr, Eric Summa and Eugene Dillenburg.
Honorary pallbearers were Cody Blomker, Leslee Collins, Valerie Lennon, Jeromy Rockwell, Johnathon Medlin and Alex Medlin.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
