BERNICE E. WEBSTER
A graveside service for Bernice E. Webster, 92, of Kalona will be held Monday, June 11, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Redding Cemetery in Redding, Iowa. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 10 from 3-5 p.m. at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, Iowa. In lieu of flowers a general memorial fund has been established.
Bernice Webster died Monday, June 4, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a brief illness.
Bernice Elizabeth (Denney) Webster was born June 20, 1919 in Redding, Iowa the daughter of Homer and Myrtle (Jefferson) Denney. She was a teacher in a country school in rural Ringold county before attending the University of Iowa and attaining a degree in nursing. Bernice worked as a registered nurse and a homemaker.
She was a resident of Kalona, Iowa in retirement, and a member of the Alpha Club and the Lioness Club. Bernice was an ardent amateur genealogist, a passion she shared with her husband. She was well respected as an authority on family history and was sought out by many relatives for her knowledge about her family.
Survivors include two children, Julie Thomerson of Union, Ohio and David Webster of Kalona; one granddaughter, Ellie and husband William Keller of Dayton, Ohio; three great-grandchildren and one brother, Hugh Robert Denney of Portland, Oregon.
Preceding Bernice in death was her husband, Howard; a son-in-law, Glenn Thomerson, and a daughter-in-law, Jill Webster.
