RAYMOND HAROLD FROST

RAYMOND HAROLD FROST

Raymond Harold Frost, son of Roy Raymond and Bernice Laverta (Foland) Frost, was born June 2, 1930 at home west of Beaconsfield, Iowa.

The family moved to a farm north of Diagonal and Harold went to country school there. The family would later move to a farm south of Mount Ayr where Harold grew of age. He was a member of two undefeated football teams; costing him his two front teeth! After graduating from Mount Ayr high school, Harold worked for the Mount Ayr Mill and Feed and was in the U.S. Navy Reserves. On June 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Mary Roberta Reynolds in the Tingley United Methodist Church. Harold began farming with his father-in-law east of Beaconsfield, Iowa and continued farming there for many years.

Harold enjoyed hunting, talking on his ham radio and being in the outdoors. As Harold and Roberta raised their four children, they had several boats and the kids waterskied at Loch Ayr and Sun Valley Lakes. The family enjoyed summer vacations and saw a lot of the country. Harold loved to play cribbage at Wion’s Garage in Beaconsfield and Reasoner’s Garage near Beaconsfield was a good place to drink coffee and ‘trade lies.’

After the children were grown, Harold and Roberta loved to country dance. He did wood working but one of his favorite projects was restoring a 1929 McCormick Deering tractor. He drove it in several area parades and was a regular in the Sidney Iowa Rodeo parade.

Harold was a member of the Beaconsfield United Methodist Church, was a past trustee for Monroe Township and former board member of the Tingley Farmer Supply.

Harold passed away November 21, 2012 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Roberta on December 22, 2004; son Dale; great-granddaughter Ava Jaibree Frost; brother Dean; and father and mother-in-law Lloyd and Lela Reynolds.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Connie Whipple and husband Mike of Sidney, Iowa, Doug Frost and wife Joyce of Kellerton, Iowa and Sherri Mummey of Mulhall, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Shannon Wehling, Scott Whipple, Justin Frost, Jolene Frost, Adam Frost, Jesse Frost and Jessica Frost; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Louise Frost of Mount Ayr; special friend Mildred Gartin of Leon, Iowa, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A memorial fund has been established to the Beaconsfield United Methodist Church.
