SUSAN DIANE EASTIN

Susan Diane Eastin, daughter of Donald E. and Mildred H. (Main) Sobotka, was born April 3, 1958 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Susan grew up in Mount Ayr and on the farm south of Beaconsfield, Iowa. She went to Mount Ayr and Grand Valley high school. Susan married Michael Eastin and they had two sons, Shane and Marty. They moved to Wyoming in 1976. Susan and Mike later divorced. Susan and her boys moved to Oklahoma in 1989. Susan worked for Natural Gas Pipeline for 27 years. She traveled all over the country as a result of her job. She was a member of Union Local 177 and Teamsters Local 625. Susan loved the summertime and enjoyed camping, grilling out, gardening and anything else outdoors.

She was a hard worker and enjoyed country music and the many good friends she met over the years. Susan loved the times she spent with family as well as her faithful pet, Roscoe. Susan moved back to the area a couple of years ago and has lived in Osceola.

Susan passed away December 7, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Robbie Gregg.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Shane Eastin of Morris, Oklahoma and Marty Eastin of Henrietta, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Logan, Jillian and Laura Eastin; siblings, Jerry (Debra) Sobotka of DeSoto, Iowa, Jan Bowles of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Randy Sobotka and Cyndi Reynolds of Minburn, Iowa and Sherrie (Allan) Helton of Osceola, Iowa, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.

Services were conducted at the Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Monday, December 10, 2012, with Rev. Skip Rushing officiating. Musical selections were ‘Peace In The Valley’ and ‘Life Ain’t Always Beautiful.’

Honorary pallbearers were Logan Eastin, Jillian Eastin and Laura Eastin.
