Patricia Ruth Crees was born February 16, 1930 at her home in rural Decatur, Iowa and passed away on December 24, 2012 at the Westview Care Center in Leon, Iowa at the age of 82 years.

The eldest child of Michael and Ruth Ellars Crees, Patricia suffered from a major illness at an early age. This illness resulted in making a normal lifestyle difficult. She attended schools in Decatur and Leon and graduated from Beaconsfield high school.

Patricia dedicated her life to helping others and she was able to assist several other people in their homes during their final years. Her ability to remember every family member’s birthday was a gift.

Patricia was a proud member of the Leon Brethren Church and attended regularly for several years.  Some of her favorite activities were to attend her alumni banquet, the Brethren Church song festival and working with flowers in her garden.

Preceding Patricia in death were her father, mother, brother Willis and infant brother Clarence.

Surviving are her sisters, Barbara Crees Jones of Leon, Iowa and Willa Crees Poore (Duane) of Mount Ayr, Iowa; sister-in-law, Peggy Crees of Dysart, Iowa; brothers, Kenneth Crees (Bonnye) of Pine Top, Arizona, Carl Crees (Carol) of Leon, Iowa and LeRoy Crees (Velma) of Brownstown, Indiana; 21 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were Friday, December 28, 2012, at Slade-O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa with Pastor Rick Hawkins officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery near Grand River, Iowa.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
