MARSHA JUNE LUCKETT-SMITHSON

Marsha June Luckett-Smithson, daughter of Charles and June (Ponader) Smithson, was born April 18, 1941 at Paterson, New Jersey. Marsha graduated from high school and college.

Marsha’s husband was in the U.S. Army and she lived in several cities and military bases all over the world. Most recently she has lived in Omaha, Nebraska and Ames, Iowa. While in Ames she taught at different times at both the Iowa State University and for the United School Districts. Marsha has lived in Mount Ayr for the last few years and while living here, she enjoyed being a member of the Master Gardeners. She had a variety of plants for sale and helped ‘green-up’ Mount Ayr. Marsha was a member of the Lions Club and Afternoon Literature Club. Marsha was active in politics and was a delegate for Hillary Clinton.

Marsha entered Clearview Home as a result of her declining health and she passed away there on December 22, 2012.

She is survived by her siblings and friends both in Mount Ayr and in the cities she lived.

Marsha was cremated and her ashes will be interred in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr at a later date. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr is in charge of her arrangements.
