LORRAINE DRAKE LESAN
Lorraine Drake Lesan was born July 21, 1924 in rural Iowa near Kellerton, Iowa to Elgie L. and Mable Ray Drake. She loved and devoted her life to God and to her family. In 1944 Lorraine married Robert R. Lesan in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Bob was stationed in the service. They enjoyed more than 50 years together. Lorraine enjoyed her life as a farm wife west of Mount Ayr, where she and Bob raised their family. She loved spending time with her three children, two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
Lorraine was a member of Mount Ayr United Methodist Church and served in many of the organizations there. In 1996 they moved from the farm to Mount Ayr where she continued her vegetable gardening and enjoyed her flower garden. After Bob passed away in 1998 Lorraine moved to Ankeny, Iowa to be near her family there. She enjoyed attending the Ankeny United Methodist Church and taking part in the programs there.
Lorraine passed away on January 7, 2013 at her home in Ankeny, Iowa. In addition to her husband, Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Clyta Hightshoe Thompson, and her brother, Major Joseph A. Drake.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Lesan (Vince) Weber of Ankeny, Iowa, Jacque Lesan (Guy) Defenbaugh of Savannah, Missouri and Dale Eugene Lesan of Des Moines, Iowa; her granddaughters, Christy (David) Caldwell of Los Angeles, California and Laura (Zac) Coughlin of Savannah, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Austin, Zach and Olivia Caldwell and Zander and Devree Coughlin, and her sister, Evelyn (Robert) Bourhill of The Dalles, Oregon.
Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, January 12, 2013, with Rev. Skip Rushing officiating. Pianist was Nancy Sackett.
Casket bearers were Lynn Rinehart, Bret Lesan, Glee Mobley, Brian Mobley, Jerry Barker and Ron Sickels.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
A memorial fund has been established to the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church and HCI Care Services.
