HAZEL F. WALKER

    Hazel F. Walker, 91, of Sunny Brook Assisted Living in Fort Madison, formerly of Mount Ayr, passed away September 12, 2013 at Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa.
    Hazel, daughter of Torgen Madsen “John” Skow and Katie Annie Christensen Skow, was born December 12, 1921 at Bradgate, Humboldt County, Iowa. Hazel graduated from Gilmore City High School. On March 28, 1942, Hazel married O.C. Walker in Aurora, IL. Hazel retired as secretary at the Iowa State Extension office in Mount Ayr. She was a member of the United Methodist Church; U.M.W.; P.E.O.; and Order of Eastern Star. Hazel enjoyed knitting and was active in the quilting group.
    Survivors include her son Paul D. (Mary Beth) Walker of West Point, IA; grandsons Jay D. (Amy) Walker and Robert J. Walker; great grandchildren Maggie, Aden, Mason, and Carlee; brothers Robert (Judy) Skow of Indiana and Jerry (Avalee) Skow of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband O.C. Walker on September 7, 1970; and a brother Richard Skow.
    Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16 at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Skip Rushing officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Songs were Prayer Is The Key To Heaven and How Great Thou Art. Casketbearers were Alvin Cross, Mike Warin, Larry Giles, Steve Mitchell, Dick Elliott, Chet Roed; Honorary Pallbearer was Mac Cross. A memorial fund has been established for the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church.
