DONNIE GENE “DOC” ROSS

DONNIE GENE “DOC” ROSS

Donnie Gene “Doc” Ross entered into rest at his home on September 17, 2013 at the age of 41 years, nine months, and one day. His beautiful soul found its way to heaven after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Donnie was born December 16, 1971 in Loveland, Colorado to Jackie Edward and Bonnie Kay (Reed) Ross. He has a twin brother, Ronnie Lee; an older brother, Rickie Edward, and a sister, Vickie Kay. While still in grade school, the family moved from Colorado to Iowa where Donnie attended Cumberland-Massena schools. He graduated from Walnut community school in May 1990.
Around the age of five, Donnie’s love and passion for music became evident when he and Ronnie taught themselves to play bass and lead guitar, which started the family band, the Country Moonlighters. Donnie and Ronnie were also featured in the bands, Connie Lynch & Borderline, as well as N.E. Thing GoZ. Donnie continued to follow his musical talents by starting his own business, doc Productions, a prominent DJ and karaoke business which continues to be an icon in the Des Moines and surrounding areas.
In his free time, Donnie loved watching the Denver Broncos, Dale Earnhardt Jr. or the Iowa State Cyclones. As they all know, a visit never ended without Donnie picking up a guitar or getting the “keyboard” out and hosting a spontaneous jam session.
In September 1991 Donnie was joined in marriage to Melissa Anne (Bills) and to this union were born Stephen Edward and Nicole Anne.
In June 2000 Donnie married Carrie Lee (Sopcich) and to this union were born Paige Breanna Lee and Dawson Gene.
On December 26, 2011 Donnie became a grandpa to Hayden Edward Ross, born to Stephen Edward and Jessica Anne Davis.
Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Jackie; his mother, Bonnie; his paternal grandparents, Avery (Jack) and Martha Ross; his maternal grandfather, Oscar Reed, and other dear family members.
He is survived by his son, Stephen (Jessica) and grandson, Hayden of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Dawson and daughter Paige of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter, Nicole of Atlantic, Iowa; brother, Ronnie (Misty) of Mount Ayr, Iowa; brother, Rick of Grimes, Iowa; sister, Vickie (Johny) of Mount Ayr, Iowa; maternal grandmother, Loreen Reed of Mount Ayr, Iowa; six nieces, five nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family, lifelong friends, Randy West of Oakland, Shawn Sarsfield of Atlantic, Matt Avaux of Urbandale, and countless other friends.
