RUBY LOUELLA (GAULE) McGAHUEY

Ruby Louella (Gaule) McGahuey was born July 10, 1924 to Patsy and Lenore (Perkins) Gaule on the family farm near Clearfield, Iowa in Taylor county and departed this life October 13, 2013 in Federal Heights, Colorado at the age of 89 years, three months and three days.
She graduated from Clearfield high school and attended Maryville State Teachers College. She later taught one to two years in the country school system.
In 1946 Ruby married Clarence McGahuey upon his return from WWII. They farmed for about five years in and around Ringgold county before moving to the western United Sates.
To this union were born a daughter, Nancy, and son, Calvin.
Ruby spent her life working at various endeavors, always exhibiting a strong work ethic which she passed on to her children. She was a wonderful seamstress and quilter as well as a crafter. She loved to share her creations with others. Ruby and Clarence enjoyed many travels and outdoor activities. She always had a welcoming home and enjoyed her family’s visits.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; brothers, Marvin and Melvin.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ferguson of Boveri, Maryland; son, Calvin (B.J.) of Monte Rio, California; grandchildren, Heather (Edgar) Avalos of Boveri, Maryland and Brett Bjork of Laurel, Maryland; great-grandchildren, Abigail Bjork, Benjamin Bjork, Diego Avalos and Nicholas Avalos; three sisters-in law, and nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services were held Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel in Thornton, Colorado with Deacon Samuel Lopez officiating.
