THELMA TIPTON

Thelma Belle (Mickael) Tipton was born March 8, 1934 in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Dick and Clara Mickael. She attended school in Mount Ayr and Idaho. On September 7, 1951 Thelma was united in marriage to Herman Tipton in Twin Falls, Idaho. Thelma and Herman lived a short time in Grove, Oklahoma before moving to Iowa in the winter of 1951. To this union three sons were born, Clifford Herman II, Richard Allen and Roger Dale. Her sons were the pride and delight of their Mom and Dad.
Thelma and Herman spent all of their time raising the boys as well as themselves in the Free Methodist Church. Thelma worked at various jobs in her life, babysitting, the old sandwich shop, selling Avon, the hotel, the cap factory, Horton’s and Clearview Nursing Home as well as a field and crop worker in Oregon and Idaho. Thelma also spent many years as caregiver for those needing help. They were privileged to celebrate 57 years of married bliss before Herman passed away from cancer.
Thelma is survived by two sons, Clifford Tipton of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Richard (wife Martina) Tipton of Murray, Iowa; two daughters-in-law, Sherri Tipton of Mount Ayr, Iowa and Donna (husband Mark) Clair of Mount Ayr, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Carolyn (husband Duane) Paxton of Pace, Florida, Jean Mickael of Missouri and Kathleen Miller of Cabool, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jenny, Jake and Jeremy Tipton, Miracle Tipton and Destiny and Mandy McNabb; four great-grandchildren, Haylee Tipton and Methias, Marcus and Aven McNabb, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; son, Roger Dale; three brothers, James, Arthur and Charles; four brothers-in-law, Herald (wife Pearl) Tipton, Wayne (wife Betty) Tipton, Ronnan Tipton and Don Miller; two sisters-in-law, Mildred (husband Al) Long and Marie (husband Paul) Miller; four nephews, Billy Tipton, Buster Tipton, Harlan Jones and Philip Jones, and two nieces, Carolyn Tipton and Sharon Murphy.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Pastor Chuck Weiman officiating. Music was provided by Ken Campbell and Cindy Mickael.
Casket bearers were Chuck Mickael, Jake Tipton, Jeremy Tipton, David Martin, Junior Mickael and Jenny Tipton.
Honorary pallbearers were Cameron White, Marvin Pennry, Bob Kibbe and Billy Powell.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.
