WILLIAM SCOTT MUNYON

    William Scott Munyon, son of William Gary and Bettie Jean (Axtell) Munyon, was born June 16, 1971 in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Scott graduated from Grand Valley high school in 1989. In April of 1991, he was united in marriage to Sheila Trower and to this marriage two sons were born, William Jared Munyon and Brandon Scott Munyon. Scott kept busy with carpentry work and was a guide at The Lodge for several years. He loved to fish, play pool, shoot darts and work on vehicles. Scott was always willing to help his friends and he was good with the local kids. Scott loved his trucks and always trading vehicles.
    Scott passed away on April 5, 2014 in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Loren and Doris Axtell; paternal grandparents, Donald and Marge Munyon, and a niece, Lucy Bowlsby.
    Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Brandon Scott Munyon of Kellerton, Iowa and William Jared (Krystal Handy) Munyon of Mount Ayr, Iowa; granddaughter, Delanie Marie Handy; a grandson soon to be born named William Jace Scott Munyon; his mother, Bettie (John) Andrew of Lorimor, Iowa; his father, Bill (Pat) Munyon of Grand River, Iowa; sister, Becky (David) Noble of Winterset, Iowa; brothers, Lonnie (Tisha) Swigart of Lamoni, Iowa, Gary Munyon of Colorado, Nathan Munyon of Maryville, Missouri and Aaron Benson of Grant City, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Courtney Bowlsby, Kaylee Stone, Cody Swigart and Bryce Swigart; former wife, Sheila Munyon of Kellerton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Janet Glendenning of Mount Ayr, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Phyllis (Larry) Myers of Omaha, Nebraska and Connie (Rod) Smith of Kellerton, Iowa; other relatives, and many good friends.
    Services will be held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 2 p.m.  Musical selections will be “If I Don’t Make it Back,” “Drink a Beer,” “Friends in Low Places” and “I Drive Your Truck.”
     A reception potluck will be held at The Lodge following the services.
    A memorial fund has been established in his name.
