ADA ELIZABETH DeGRYSE STANLEY

    Ada Elizabeth (DeGryse) Stanley, 97, of Mount Ayr passed away on April 22, 2014 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center.  Ada was born July 12, 1916 in Stoneham, Colorado to Edmond DeGryse and Bessie (Lybarger) DeGryse. In 1934 Ada graduated from high school in Snyder, Colorado. Ada was united in marriage to Ray M. Stanley on December 25, 1936 in Snyder.
    Ada and Ray settled in Snyder until moving to Beaconsfield, Iowa and later Mount Ayr, Iowa.  Ada was a homemaker, 4H leader for 35 years and Sunday school teacher for over 40 years. She loved bowling and was a bowling instructor for Mount Ayr Schools into her 70s. Ada was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr, Chapter CK P.E.O. in Mount Ayr and Mount Ayr Chapter 356 Order of the Eastern Star.
    Ada was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; two sisters, Ruby Stumberg and Donna Burch, and one grandson, Douglas Stanley.
    Ada is survived by three sons, Roger (Patty) Stanley, Neil (Susan) Stanley and Gene Stanley; one brother, Glen (Dorothy) DeGryse; three sisters, Bessie Christensen, Renelda Scott and Joann (Larry) Skaggs; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
    Services were conducted at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, with Pastor Ed Shields officiating. Musical selections were “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “In The Garden.”
     A memorial fund has been established in Ada’s name.
    Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
