ROBERTA JEAN “BERT” FARMER

    Roberta Jean “Bert” (Lamb) Farmer was born on April 8, 1934 at the family home in Allendale, Missouri, to Edgar Glee Lamb and Ocle Floerene (Staton) Lamb. Roberta departed this life at her home on June 18, 2014.
    She attended and graduated from Worth County High School, Grant City, Missouri, from the Class of 1951. Bert was the sixth child born in the family of 11 children and during her younger years she helped her Mom and Dad in raising and rearing the younger brothers and sisters.
    Roberta was united in marriage to George W. Farmer on April 9, 1952. The couple was blessed with three children: Jeffrey (Butch), Mark and Joni. While in Mount Ayr, Iowa, Bert and George were in the mink ranching business. She also contributed her extra time in helping others with housekeeping and painting. After a short time in Omaha, Nebraska, the couple made their home in Clarinda, Iowa where Roberta worked at the State Hospital for numerous years and later on at the County Home and Terrace View Residential Home. Bert remained in Clarinda after retiring for the rest of her remaining years. She was better known to most as “Grandma Bert.”
    Bert’s love for her children and grandchildren was surpassed by no other. She truly enjoyed family gatherings with her immediate family but she was also key to the many family reunions of the entire Lamb family, when often times over 100 relatives attended. She was looking forward to the 2014 family get-together next month.
    Those left to cherish Roberta’s memories are good friend, Larry Dowis of Sheridan, Missouri; daughter, Joni Steeve (Clark Crawford) of Clarinda; grandchildren: Shadoe and Tyler Steeve also of Clarinda, Kirstin (Gunnar) Brown and Courtney Farmer of Omaha, Nebraska; great-grandchildren: Nolan and Briley Brown and J’Ontrae Amerson also of Omaha, Nebrasksa; sister Dorothy Rush of St. Joseph, Missouri; brother Garland (Twila) Lamb also of St. Joseph, Missouri; sister Retha Moutray of Kansas City, Missouri; sister-in-law Gayle Lamb of Grant, Iowa; brother, Nathan (Gayle) Lamb of Stigler, Oklahoma; sister Martha “Wink” (Ron) Andrews of Clear Lake, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George; sons Jeffrey and Mark; grandson Joshua; brothers Rex, Robert and Gerald; sisters Lloyt Bressler and Marjorie (Darrell) Plumb; brothers-in-law Lewis Rush, Kenneth Moutray; sisters-in-law Hilda, Juanita and Patricia Lamb.
    Memorial services were Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Clarinda, Iowa with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to be given in Roberta’s name. Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel, Clarinda, assisted with arrangements. www.MemoriesOnline.com
