BEVERLY ANN SWANSON

Beverly Ann Jeter Swanson, 66, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 4, 2014. She was surrounded by family and an abundance of love.
Beverly was bom on July 11, 1948 in Creston, Iowa to parents Jim and Marie Jeter. She was raised in Bedford, Iowa with her three siblings Marilyn Alexander, Jim Jeter and Joe Jeter. She married the love of her life, Duane Swanson, on November 19, 1967 and they were blessed to have each other in this world for 46 years. They had two children. Matt Swanson and Mindy Buster and, I can tell you without a doubt, she was the best mom to ever walk the earth.
Beverly was a devoted and enthusiastic first-grade teacher at Venetucci Elementary for 20 years, where she enriched many lives by teaching children about everything from Johnny Appleseed to reading their first book. She loved her students, fellow teachers and administrators, as they inspired her life just as much as she did theirs.
She devoted her life to other people; whether it be her husband, children, grandchildren, friends or students. Beverly was always thinking of and doing for others. She loved all of us dearly, but especially her grandkids, McKenna Buster, Kylie Buster and Quinn Swanson. In addition to her husband, they were her soul mates and, oh, the fun they had! Other loves and passions included the outdoors, bird watching and traveling. She and Duane saw many places and enjoyed spectacular views all over the country, but her favorite place always remained the same and that was next to Duane, no matter what the view.
She had an electric smile and contagious laugh, both of which we already miss. We are all the lucky ones to have known and loved her, but especially to have been loved by her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marie Jeter. She is survived by her husband, Duane Swanson of Colorado Springs; her son Matthew (Staci) of Colorado Springs; daughter Mindy Buster (Heath) of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, McKenna Buster, Kylie Buster and Quinn Wanson; sister Marilyn Alexander of Bedford, Iowa; brother Jim Jeter of Kansas City, Missouri; brother Joe Jeter of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and countless other in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Services were held Friday, October 10 at First United Methodist Church, 420 North Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
Donations in her honor can be made to Caringbridge.org, St. Jude’s, or The Springs Rescue Mission.
