EVA FAYE SICKELS

Eva Faye (Jeter) Sickels was born August 17, 1930 to Fred Elmer and Cordia (Jones) Jeter near Hatfield, Missouri. Faye was educated in rural schools around Hatfield, Missouri.
On October 26, 1947 Faye was united in marriage to Don Allen Sickels in Creston, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Joyce, Judy and Ron.
Don and Faye farmed near Mount Ayr until 1958. They then moved to Clarinda where Don ran a service station for around two years. In 1960, they returned to Mount Ayr. Faye helped Don with his tank wagon business by taking phone orders and radioing them to him. Although she was mainly a homemaker she had brief jobs at the Clinton Motel, the cap factory, and as a school bus driver. Faye enjoyed life and loved family time. High on the list of loves was her dog, Sparky. In later years she loved going to the Mount Ayr Meal Site to eat and play Bingo. She also loved to play Yahtzee.
After a two week stay and lengthy surgery at Mercy Hospital, she was transferred to Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa where she passed away one date later June 18, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; six brothers, Eldon, Ardith, Paul, Clyde, Jim and Ray Jeter; two sisters, Wanda McGahuey and Virginia Sharp; son-in-law, Allen Crandall.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joyce (Mark) Waters of Des Moines and Judy Crandall of Oelwein; son, Ron Sickels (Barbara Pottorff) of Mount Ayr; dog, Sparky, five grandchildren, Todd Waters, Amber (Jeremy) Guck, Toni (Gary) Morris, Matt Crandall, Shannon (Bob) Hernandez, eight great-grandchildren, Avery and Austin Guck, Zach Morris, Savanna, Alex and Hunter Crandall, Braylen and McKale Hernandez, two great-great-grandchildren Harper Smith and Weston Crandall; sister-in-law, Helen Jeter of Mount Ayr; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Her services were at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
The officiant was Rev. Pete Brantner.
Special songs were “Who Will Sing For Me” and “Gone Home”.
Casketbearers were Bob Hernandez, Jim Jeter, Terry McGahuey, Jeff Sickels, Jeremy Guck, and David Hunt.
Honorary pallbearers were Sparky, everyone at Mount Ayr Meal Site, Lonnie Sharp, Bob Sickels, Dale Jeter, Steve Sickels, Galen Jeter, Cory Jeter, Frank Pollock and Gary Morris.
Eva was laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Memorials are to the Mount Ayr Meal Site.
