BETTY ANN SCOTT
Betty was born on November 3, 1929 in Kellerton, Iowa. She peacefully left on September 17, 2018 in Meridian, Idaho. Betty had a full, long life of 88 years. Her passions and joys were many. Betty loved all things in nature. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, flowers, wildlife and raising livestock.
Betty grew up on a farm near Kellerton, Iowa, attending a one room country school. She finished her education at sixteen and went to work for her aunt at a restaurant in Des Moines, Iowa. In November 16, 1947 Betty married Stanley Scott. They lived on farms near Davis City, Tingley, and Kellerton, Iowa. They farmed by raising cattle and hogs. Three sons were born during this time, their names being Elliot, Bruce and Tim. As a family they hunted, fished, logged and worked on the farm. In 1965, the family moved to Mountain Home, Idaho where they established the Coast to Coast hardware store. In the Fall of 1969, Betty and Stanley moved to Canada to homestead two square miles. Betty worked for a nursery where she learned a lot about propagating plants and really enjoyed working there. They later returned to Mountain Home where Betty had years enjoying her grandsons Kane and Tyler. She was a special grandmother, teaching the boys how to bake and enjoy the outdoors. After divorcing Stanley in 1993, she moved back to Kellerton, Iowa where she bought, improved, and resold houses. She had those years of closeness with her family and was president of the women’s group of the Methodist Church. One of her highlights in life was a trip to the Philippines with Tim, Ramil, and Jay Don in April 2007. While there, she put her feet in the South Pacific Ocean for the very first time. In May 2008, Betty moved back to Idaho where she resided with Bruce and Roberta. Betty grew fond of a little pound dog named Beetle and were happy together. She later acquired another companion dog, Millie.
