Amanda, the daughter of Edwin and Michelle (Wilmes) Rotert, Jr., was born July 14, 1988 in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Mount Ayr, Iowa and graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School in 2007. After high school, she enrolled at Hawkeye Community College, and later graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Kaplan University.
While at Hawkeye Community College Amanda met her future husband Dustin Auen, and they were married on October 4, 2014 in Lake View, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll. Amanda and Dustin welcomed their children, and Amanda embraced her role as a mother. In addition to being a devoted mother, she also ran her in-home daycare. She loved children and helping people with special needs.
Amanda enjoyed art, photography, drawing, music, and being creative with many craft projects. She enjoyed restoring furniture with Dustin, where Amanda had a talent to see the potential in any antiquated object.
