The Mount Ayr wrestling team held their annual banquet recently in which they awarded members of the team for achievements throughout the season, while also naming next years captains.
The Raiders ended the 2020-21 season 16-8 in duals while also sending four athletes to the State Tournament which saw Trae Ehlen place sixth and Drew Ehlen place eighth.
Bryce Shaha and Jaydon Knight both finished as qualifiers.
Shaha finished his career with 155 wins and 21 losses with 84 by fall.
Shaha was a four-time John J. Harris champion, the third ever, while also being a four-time state qualifier with a highest finish of eighth.
Shaha sits third on the Top 10 Career Wins list with 155, behind Trae Ehlen (159) and Joe Ricker (176).
Shaha leads the career takedowns with 332, while also first on the career win percentage board with a .881.
Awards given to the Raiders included: Most Improved – Braydon Swietlik; Spark Plug – Jaydon Knight and Most Valuable Wrestler – Trae Ehlen.
Trae Ehlen and Bryce Shaha were the captains for the 2020-21 season.
Drew Ehlen and Jaydon Knight will be captains for the 2021-22 season.
